Small cell cancer

Clinical History: 78 year old male with history of bladder cancer developed a renal mass.

Histology: Figure A shows small round to fusiform cells with scant cytoplasm, abundant mitosis and finely granular nuclear chromatin with absent nucleoli. Special immunoperoxidase staining for CD56 in Figure B shows >90% of the tumor cells positive for CD56 antigen, all these findings consistent with small cell carcinoma invading the renal parenchyma.
