Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis

Clinical history: 45 year old male presented with hematuria and decreased urine output and was diagnosed with with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis with positive ANCA.

Histology: The glomeruli in Figures A and B show solid and hypercellular architecture with focal necrosis and prominent cellular crescents. The surrounding interstitial space shows moderate edema and minimal inflammatory infiltrate. These findings along with positive ANCA are consistent with Pauci-immune necrotizing and crescentic glomerulonephritis, a type of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis
